School Newsletter 29 June 2015
Dear Parents / Carers,
Residential Visits
Well done to the Y4 and Y6 who enjoyed their respective residential visits to Carlton Lodge and East Barnby. Many thanks to all the staff and Mrs Ward who gave their time to enable the children to experience these wonderful outdoor learning opportunities.
Forest Schools
Our first Y5 Forest Schools group had an amazing time learning outside the classroom at Fountains Abbey last week. Both children and parents have commented on the positive experience Forest Schools presents. The remaining Y5 group complete their Forest Schools adventure this week.
Sports Day
Congratulations to St Andrew’s house team for their success on Sports afternoon. Well done to all the children for their team effort in the sports activities as well as their individual performances in the track events
Quad Kids
Our sporting successes continue to flourish as a team of Y5/6 children represented the Hambleton District at Quad Kids athletics last Monday 22nd June. In this Local and District event held at the Mount School York we were placed 7th out of 69 schools. Thank you to all the team members for representing the school so well. Please pass on our gratitude for all the Sainsbury’s vouchers collected which has enabled us to order equipment to further enhance our Quadkids skills.
Bikeability
Congratulations to all the Y6 children who participated and achieved Bikeability status. The Bikeability trainers were especially impressed with the behaviour and attitude of the children.
PTA Events
Thank you to the PTA for organising the popular Film Night for the children last Friday evening. The Leavers BBQ organised by the PTA is on Friday 17th July from 6.00pm to 9.00pm. GFM will expect us to vacate the school premises by 9.00pm.
Parent Consultation Meetings
Class teachers will display their appointment lists outside their classrooms today. Your child will take home a written report on Friday 3rd July but should you wish to discuss that further please sign up for an appointment in the usual way.
Y4 Music
On Tuesday 30th June at 2.00pm the Y4 will have their last wider opportunities music lesson for the school year. You are invited to hear their end of year performance at 3.00pm in the School hall. Five children who also have peripatetic lessons with Miss Berridge will also perform.
Moving Up Morning
Our Moving Up morning is on the morning of Friday 10th July when all the children have the opportunity to meet their new class teacher.
Priory and Temple Class
On Wednesday 15th July Priory and Temple Class will present their performance of ‘Hoodwinked’ for parents in the school. There will be two performances one at 2.00pm and then again at 6.00pm. All the children from Reception to Y3 will have had the opportunity to see ‘Hoodwinked’ during the dress rehearsal at 1.30pm on Tuesday 14th July so we would be grateful if children from the rest of the school did not attend the evening performance on the 15th July. Should you require crèche facilities please let us know at the school office. If you have Nursery age children, or younger, you are most welcome to watch the dress rehearsal on Tuesday 14th July at 1.30pm.
Just a reminder of the school policy on the use of photographs and videos, they are for personal use ONLY and must not be shared on social media websites such as Facebook.
School Picnic
On Wednesday 15th July we will be holding our annual school picnic on the playground. The children can purchase the meal from GFM in the usual way. Parents and family members are also welcome to bring their own picnics and join us for the occasion. The picnic lunch is from 11.45am to 1.00pm.
End of Term
School closes at 2.30pm on Friday 17th July.
‘After School Club’ will be open as usual.
Yours sincerely,
Mrs V Farby.
